Head of Contracting (£58,000 - £60,000) - East Sussex or Remote
This well-established travel business is looking for someone to join them to lead and manage a team of Contracts Managers and ensure that as a department there is effective provision of ground transportation services worldwide. This team are responsible for managing suppliers including negotiating rates and terms and conditions. You will also oversee the ongoing commercial performance of these suppliers.
Head of Contracting - What will I be doing?- You will have overall responsibility for negotiating rates and terms & conditions with suppliers
- You will be responsible for continued monitoring of the on-going commercial and operational performance of these services/suppliers
- Monitor performance of destinations and work with the pricing and sales teams to maximise sales volumes and profit growth
- You will be responsible for overseeing performance and personal development of your direct reports who will be based in the UK and overseas
- You will be part of the Head of Department team (HODs) and whilst you will have defined working hours, you will also be expected to work as necessary in order to fulfil the role
Head of Contracting - What experience do I need?
- You will have come from a fast-paced contracts / purchasing / buying background ideally within the travel industry or other fast paced market
- You will have strong influencing and negotiation skills, prior experience in successfully contracting, and negotiating agreements and conditions with suppliers is essential
- Excellent interpersonal skills including highly developed communication and presentation skills
- Understanding of global cultures is essential
- Passionate about customer satisfaction and driven to create successful long-term commercial supplier relationships.
- You must be able to demonstrate senior commercial leadership and evidence strategic buying experience
- You must have prior management experience and be confident you can coach a team of remote workers
Head of Contracting - what else do I need to know?
This role requires frequent travel abroad sometimes at short notice - so lots of opportunity to see the world. They have some lovely offices on the Sussex Coast which you will need to visit frequently. There is an annual bonus scheme with a good salary and a very dynamic environment.
