We are working in partnership with a trading firm in London who specialise in trading equities, futures and FX globally. They are at an exciting time in their growth and are looking for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to join their team.

Junior Infrastructure Engineer - What Will I be Doing?

You will be part of the team that manages their Linux, Windows, Network and Data Centre infrastructure, and will also be supporting various applications within this growing and diversifying business. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining their trading and business infrastructure.

  • You will manage their Linux, Windows, DB and virtual server infrastructure locally and in remote Data Centres
  • You will be responsible for their proprietary trading system server operations through active and passive monitoring
  • Work with Technology and Trading to manage and evolve their trading system hardware and software
  • Work with diverse vendors to evaluate new hardware and software technologies
  • Automate repetitive system and network administration tasks
  • Participate in the performance tuning process across the whole system and network stack

Junior Infrastructure Engineer - What Experience do I need?

  • You must have a Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related experience
  • You will have experience across a variety of platforms (Linux, Windows, Virtual environments)
  • Ability to work in a Data Centre (occasionally lifting up to 20kg)
  • You will need to have strong attention to detail, with a passion for testing and documentation
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, working in a team environme

  • Ideally you will have experience with:
  • Server administration in a proprietary trading or buy-side firm
  • Familiar with automation tools and principles, and implementation using python/bash scripting
  • Working with containerisation tools such as Docker
  • Experience in basic network administration in a Cisco environment, able to troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of database systems, including MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with system monitoring and config management tools. (e.g. Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti, Ansible)

    Mid Level PHP Developer Experience required:

    • A proficiency in PHP (OOP), working with PHP frameworks (Symfony, Laravel, Phalcon, Slim or similar) in a commercial environment.
    • knowledge of SOLID and related OO design principles.
    • Hands on experience building and integrating APIs.
    • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their respective query languages.
    • DevOps capabilities (CI, Deployment Automation, Containerization). Knowledge of AWS is an advantage.
    • Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture is a plus.
    • An appreciation for TDD and unit testing.
    • Proficiency with Git versioning tools and workflows.
    • A working knowledge of Agile practices and its associated tools.
    • Aptitude in front-end technologies is beneficial, but not essential.
